Community Standards

At Idevstories.ca we believe in fostering meaningful dialogue about Canada’s global development impact. Our comment section is a space for informed, respectful, and constructive conversation—much like a thoughtful gathering of engaged guests. To ensure this space remains valuable and safe for all, we ask everyone to follow these guidelines.

Our Approach to Moderation
We treat our comments as a curated extension of our journalism. Our editorial team reserves the right to publish, edit, or remove comments to maintain the quality and integrity of the discussion.

Participation Guidelines

  1. Real Identity: We operate under a real names policy. Commenters must use their authentic first and last name. Pseudonyms, organization names, or social media handles are not permitted. Accounts using aliases may be suspended, and their comments removed.

  2. Stay On Topic: Comments should contribute directly to the themes of the article. We will remove comments that stray significantly from the subject or derail the conversation.

  3. Respectful Dialogue: We welcome passionate debate and diverse perspectives, but personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or threats will not be tolerated.

  4. Fact-Based Discussion: Deliberate misinformation, distortion of facts, or attempts to misrepresent the work of individuals or organizations are not permitted.

  5. Privacy & Safety: Do not share personal information about yourself or others (including children, beneficiaries, or project staff). Comments that endanger privacy or security will be deleted.

  6. No Promotional Content: Our comments are not a space for advertising, fundraising, repetitive posting of external links, or other commercial purposes.

  7. Legal Integrity: Comments must not be defamatory, infringe copyright, or place Idevstories.ca in legal jeopardy.

Enforcement
We reserve the right to delete any comment that violates these standards, lock the accounts of repeat offenders, or close comments on articles if necessary. Comments may be archived or closed after a set period to ensure focused and timely discussion.
